This video is of my 3rd attempt to get my hair separated for dreadlocs. My first attempt was with my boyfriend, and though we tried hard, it was a disaster. He had never done hair before, and there was too great of a leaning curve. Then I went to a hair dresser who took 10 hours to separate 60% of my hair, and it didn't look good! There were all sorts of odd shapes in my hair. Now I will be going to a new hair dresser, and I have my fingers crossed that my hair will come out well. This is already becoming a time-consuming and expensive journey.
I've thought about getting locs since 2004, but never had the nerve to make the commitment. Now that I am working long hours, I no longer have as much time for my hair, and have opted to dread it.
I'm hoping locs will help my hair grow, and I will no longer experience breakage. I am also interested in joining the loc community, and being recognized as the "earthy" person I truly am.
